Experimentation

Videos

So after producing the patterns, I thought once my physical object has been completed I thought for the time being I'd experiment with shooting various videos, all these videos were captured using my phone. I've seen a few of the final shots and I think I'll re-produce them in a photography studio to get the required quality I need for projection.

The idea is there just need the execution, below are some of the videos.

Experimentation

Making

So once I had experimented with various patterns, via squeezing tea bags to create the beautiful patterns, I then needed something physical to perhaps project a video or an image on to the physical object, so I bought some plaster and molding casting powder, I created various molds of tea cups.

So once my models have dried I will then sand them down and just paint them a clean white so that it will enable me too see what I'll be projecting on to the physical object.

Experimentation

Tea Scans

Drawing inspiration form the installation folds, the one thing I found fascinating were the colours and the shapes involved, so I thought why not experiment with using tea drops, for example when you squeeze the tea bag it creates an amazing effect.

Here's a few I selected, and beneath the collection I edited some too.

Now below the ones I edited

Research

Robert Seidel

Below is the Installation entitled 'Folds'.

Research

Robert Seidel

I have been looking more into this guy's work, reason being is because there is one projection he has produced entitled 'Folds' and for me it reflects a variety of emotions, it reminds me a lot about tea, for example the slow harmonious feeling you get from watching the visualization, for me tea is a rather harmonious ceremony, it's a slow process to make the perfect cup of tea. I've been inspired by his work so over the Christmas period started to experiment my self with videos and colours.

Experimentation

Tea

Before Christmas I started to do some experiments of making cups of tea in polystyrene cups, paper cups, a normal cup and a glass cup. I just wanted to see the variations of colours within the certain aesthetic cups, then I poured away the tea form all the cups and left them too dry, the results were very interesting, here's a few pages I took from my book I'm creating.

These are pages from my book that I'm producing for my Final Major Project, I also experimented with Photoshop to manipulate some of the images.

Research

Tea Shop

So after I had a few cups of tea at Fortman and Masons I decided to go look for Tea Shops in London. I found an amazing authentic shop in Covent garden named 'Tea House'. very refreshing to see a whole variety of Tea cups, Teapots (varies sizes) and a wide variety of Tea choices to select from, and most importantly the choice of a tea bag or tea leaf.

Whilst in the tea shop I saw a gentleman packing tea, which gave it the authentic feel about the place, the decor was wooden and aged as if it's been there for a while, but keeping inline with the decor it was a very harmonious place to be inside of.

Tea Experience

So to further push my idea of Tea mixed with social class, I conducted a few varied questionnaires to collect some data. The results were interesting. But to see what the public where saying I decided to go to a few tea experiences my self, below I have posted a selected few images from some of the experiences I  en-counted.

This was at Fortman and Masons, excellent service and some excellent choices of tea on display, you felt like you was upper class, even though ironically the tea cups and tea pots were quite ordinary. Just the touch of the silver spoon and strainer that gave it its delicate twist on a classic tea set.
